Natalie Morgan's Experience

Morgan comes to Surfside as the current Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach. Previously, she served as the Surfside SO Director and as the head coach at Harvard-Westlake. While coaching the Wolverines, she helped Harvard-Westlake win the Division I Southern Regional Championship, the highest division state championship of any sport at Harvard-Westlake. For her efforts, Morgan was named AVCA All-Region Coach of the Year, and was an AVCA Thirty Under 30 award winner.

Prior to her time at Harvard-Westlake, Morgan worked at Loyola Marymount as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for four years. At LMU, Morgan helped the Lions win their first NCAA Tournament match since 2015, losing to eventual National Champions Stanford.. She also brought in back-to-back Top 30 recruiting classes. Additionally, she was responsible for scouting and analyzing opponents, while also training the Lions in defense and blocking.

Morgan’s exhaustive recruiting efforts at LMU brought in consecutive Top-30 recruiting classes, multiple Gatorade state players of the year, and Fab 50 recruits. She was also responsible for scouting and analyzing opponents and training team defense and blocking in the gym.

Morgan came to LMU from the University of Nebraska, where she has served as the Technical Coordinator for the Huskers since 2014. Her stint with Nebraska includes three NCAA Tournament appearances and a National Championship in 2015. While in Lincoln, Morgan held sole responsibility for all film breakdown and statistical analysis and earned a Masters of Art in Educational Psychology.

Prior to her move to Nebraska, Morgan, who missed the 2010 season due to injury, played the 2011 season at Oregon State, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science. After her redshirt freshman year, Morgan settled into a coaching role with the Beavers, serving as Assistant Director of Volleyball Operations and assisting with practice setup, Data Volley operation and statistical analysis. Throughout her career, Morgan has served as a Collegiate Summer Camp Coach, including stints with Nebraska, American University, UC Berkeley and Oregon State.

In addition to her time at Oregon State, Morgan has played competitive beach volleyball up and down the west coast and spent a stint with the University of Sydney Club Volleyball Team in 2015.

Morgan has also recently worked with the 2016 USA National Team and Pan Am Cup Teams as they prepared for international competition. Building her skill set, she served as a Technical Assistant at the Women’s National Team tryouts and as a Technical Coordinator with the Collegiate National Team in 2015.

On the club circuit, she has served as a Head Coach with Volleyball Club Nebraska since 2014, and worked as the 12 Elite Head Coach with BOSS Volleyball Club in 2012 and 2013.  Morgan came to Surfside in 2017 assisting the Surfside 16 PV Legends and head coaching the 15 MB Legends the following year.
