Hayley Blanchard's Experience

Surfside started 20 years ago so Hayley could learn volleyball surrounded by her family while playing the sport she loved. Throughout high school and college Hayley found every opportunity to help coach for Surfside and soon realized that her love of coaching went even farther than her love of playing. In 2012 Hayley became the assistant director of Surfside with Carolyn, and in 2013 she took over as director. After witnessing many of her teammates and friends burn out at a young age, Hayley believes in combining top notch technical training with the fun aspects of volleyball that many of us remember from our first years playing.

Hayley is known for coaching Surfside’s top 12s, 13s, and 14s.  Her teams have won three Gold Medals and two silver medals at Girls Junior National Qualifiers, finished 5th in 13 Open in 2017 and 6th in 13 Open in 2018 at the Girls Junior National Championships.  In 2021 Hayley coached the top 16s to a Silver Medal at Girls Junior National Championships.

From 2014-2016 she was the Head Coach of Mira Costa Girls Volleyball, winning Daily Breeze Coach of the Year, 2 Bay League Championships, and tournament Championships at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, Ann Kang Invitational, and Queen’s Court tournaments. From 2017-2021 Hayley was the Head of Girls Volleyball at Harvard-Westlake School taking her team to the semi-finals of Division 1 CIF Playoffs for the first time in school history.   She is currently taking a break from High School coaching to focus on her family and the club.
