Brian Hurler's Experience
Brian Hurler returns to Surfside for his second year in 2024, after working with 17 PV Legends, 13 PV Legends, and as a floating coach and performance analyst for Surfside in 2023.
In addition to Surfside, Hurler also serves as the performance analyst for the U.S. Beach National Teams. Since joining the Beach National Teams, Hurler has contributed over 100 scouting reports on FIVB Beach Pro Tour opponents. He has contributed to four BNT Paris 2024 Olympic qualifications, a BNT gold medal at the 2023 FIVB World Championships, a BNT gold medal at the 2023 FIVB World Tour Final, and 28 BNT medals in FIVB Elite 16 and Challenge events, including 9 BNT gold medals.
Hurler re-joined USAV after serving on the staff of the U.S. Women’s National Team as a performance analyst under Karch Kiraly, where he helped the team to a fourth-place finish at the FIVB World Championship in 2022. While with the WNT Hurler was charged with utilizing statistics and analytics to assist with developing scouting reports and strategies on international women’s volleyball teams, as well as player development tracking.
Prior to USAV Hurler was a part of the women’s indoor staff at Stanford University where he served as the technical coordinator for two seasons. Prior to Stanford, he spent two seasons at Creighton as the graduate manager-technical coordinator. He was part of the Big East Coaching Staff of the Year.
Hurler served as a performance analyst at the 2020 U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts and was later selected to the staff of the 2020 and 2021 U.S. Collegiate National Teams. He also supported USAV during the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup and the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in 2019 and 2021.
Hurler has previously coached for the Garden Empire Region High Performance Program, Montclair State University and for Ocean County Volleyball Club in New Jersey. He grew up in Toms River, New Jersey, and graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2015 with a degree in finance. In 2024, he received a Master’s in Analytics from Creighton University’s Heider College of Business.
