My name is Sophia Loiola and I am so excited to join the Surfside team.
I have had the privilege to grow up around volleyball greatness, having Jose Loiola as my father and growing up on the world tour has giving me the opportunity to see and understand the game at the highest level. My introduction to volleyball was on the Surfside’s 141’s with Loriann and I am so fortunate to have my world come full circle. I attended Redondo Union High School where my team and I went on to win back to back state and CIF Division 1 Championship. During my senior year, I was awarded the Sportsmanship award in California Division 1. Tommy Chaffins has had an instrumental role in forming me into the player I was. He opened my eyes and help me realize that volleyball is not just about how hard you hit the ball, but important life lessons that I hold with me to this day. I pride myself on being there for my teammates in what ever circumstances life has to offer, and that’s what I hope I can spread to this program. I then proceeded to attend California State University Sacramento and El Camino College. I have coached numerous camps, lessons and trainings and was the JV Head Coach at West Torrance high. I have also assisted AVP and Olympic Beach Volleyball players on the sand for many years.
I have had a passion for volleyball my entire life and I am so fortunate to be able to spread my knowledge with the next up coming generation of players.
