This will be Riley’s fifth year coaching with Surfside. He started coaching at All Out Volleyball Club which turned into Evolution VBC for the past 6 years. He has coached indoor and beach for the Redondo Union High School Boys Program as well as one season with the Bishop Montgomery Girls Program.
Riley’s volleyball passion started when he was 13 years old playing intramurals. Riley played four years on Varsity as an outside at Redondo Union. There he helped the Seahawks take a Bay League title and to the 3rd round of CIF. He was named All league as a Junior and won the MVP award. As a senior and captain he received All Tournament Team award in the Pre Season Invitational.
Riley started playing club at the age of 15. He played on MBSurf 15s which took home the Silver Medal at the Junior Olympics. He then played under Coach Crutchfield for the Riptides 17s where he had a 5th place finish. Following high school, Riley attended El Camino College where he played two years as an Outside/Libero helping the Warriors win the Western Conference. He then transferred to SMC where he studied Business.
Riley has been playing competitive beach volleyball for the past few years. When you aren’t watching him coach or play you can find him surfing or traveling. Last year he traveled to Asia where he taught English and volleyball to Vietnamese students and is looking to go back again.
