Kris (KJ) is from Long Beach, California. He played volleyball at Lakewood High and did not play club volleyball at all. He then went to Long Beach City College (LBCC) where he won a State Championship and was a top middle blocker in the state. Transferring to California Baptist University (CBU) in Riverside California he made his mark as a top middle blocker by having one of the highest hitting percentages in the country.
After graduating from CBU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Kris went on to play professionally overseas. He played pro volleyball overseas for 4 years and traveled to over 10 countries. During that time Kris played with USA National Team where he competed in the: Toronto Pan American Games (2015), Pan American Cup and multiple USAVB Cups.
KJ is currently playing beach volleyball fulltime and on the AVP tour, he made the AVP Main Draw in Manhattan Beach. Kris is also a Private Volleyball Coach and does Volleyball lessons as his current day job.
This is Kris’ first year coaching at Surfside. He was previously Assistant coaching with Pac6 Volleyball club and took a 5th in JO’s. Kris also coached at SCVC and Mizuno Long Beach where he made an impact there as well.
