Kris (KJ) is from Long Beach, California. He played volleyball at Lakewood High School and did not play club volleyball at all. He then went to Long Beach City College (LBCC) where he won a State Championship and was a top middle blocker in the state. Transferring to California Baptist University (CBU) in Riverside California, he made his mark as a top middle blocker by having one of the highest hitting percentages in the country.
After graduating from CBU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Kris went on to play professionally overseas. He played pro volleyball overseas for 4 years and traveled to over 10 countries. During that time Kris played with USA National Team for 5 years where he competed in the: Toronto Pan American Games (2015), Pan American Cup and multiple USAVB Cups.
After finishing his indoor career, Kris played beach volleyball were he earned a CBVA AAA rating, AVP Main Draw and a Silver Medal finish representing USA Beach in a Norceca competition.
KJ is currently a Private Volleyball Coach for KJ Volleyball Coaching and does Volleyball lessons as his day job.
This is Kris’ 2nd year coaching at Surfside. Kris was the assistant coach to the 12’s Legends team last year. He was previously Assistant coaching with Pac6 Volleyball club and took a 5th in JO’s. Kris also coached at SCVC and Mizuno Long Beach where he made an impact there as well.
